Private Client
The cost of defending your road traffic case will vary depending upon the complexity and jurisdiction of the case. We operate throughout the whole of Scotland and have defended motoring prosecutions the length and breadth of the country.
Our fee structure is agreed in advance and typically will take the form of a fixed fee arrangement. It should be noted that fees are not recoverable and are due win, lose or draw. We are happy to spread the cost of legal fees over the life of the case, with invoices tendered at interim stages until proceedings are brought to a close.
The initial advice we provide is always without charge. We are here to help and our experience in Scottish road traffic law is so extensive that we are sure we can find the right answer to your question. This service has proved invaluable to our clients over the years and our honest and direct approach allows our clients to properly assess whether our expertise is required.
Upon our formal instruction, we shall proceed to send full terms of engagement which will detail all matters pertinent to your instruction of Michael Lyon Solicitors Limited.
Legal Expenses Cover
Increasingly insurance companies are offering legal expenses cover for the defence of motoring prosecutions in Scotland and we regularly accept appointment in such cases. Our recognised expertise and proven track record allows us to satisfy Insurers that their clients are in the safest of hands. We meet all reporting and contingency requirements and would be delighted to review your policy terms to assess whether Legal Expenses Cover is applicable.
Legal Aid
We only offer legal aid in exceptional circumstances and typically will only accept instruction, on a legal aid basis, for prosecutions under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, namely death by dangerous driving
