Case Assesment Service (CAS)

 

The Case Assessment Service can be a cost-effective way to obtain a provisional view on prospects and better informs the client when deciding upon whether to incur the expense of instructing a Solicitor.

 

CAS will include a full review of all information received in connection with the proceedings. This will generally include a copy of the complaint or charge sheet, Crown disclosure statements and any information considered to be pertinent to the Defence case. A legal opinion on prospects will be provided within 72 hours from the receipt of all the relevant documentation.

 

A fee will be levied for this service and, in the event you decide to instruct the Firm to defend the case, the agreed fee for representation will be reduced by same amount.

 

It is preferable that the relevant documentation is sent as an email attachment to enable the principal documents to be retained.

 

Scots Law is governed by a separate and distinct legal system and it is imperative that advice is sought at the earliest possible juncture to allow for any preliminary pleas to the competency or relevancy of the proceedings to be stated.
