FORMAL INSTRUCTION |
|
In the event you decide to formally instruct the Firm to defend your case then you will receive full terms of engagement detailing the services that will be provided and the fee charging arrangement that has been agreed.
The fees will, very much, depend on the type of case and the amount of work envisaged to properly present the case. We offer clients two fee charging options: fixed fee or an hourly rate “time and line” account. The fees will be agreed with you in advance and a clear explanation of the work that will be undertaken on your behalf will be provided.
Do not be afraid to enquire about fees as, in our experience, most clients are pleasantly surprised. The consequences of a conviction for a road traffic offence go beyond endorsement and disqualification. Increased insurance premiums, employment implications and hire car restrictions all loom large and investing in an expert Solicitor to defend your case could well save you thousands of pounds, both in the short and long term.
We would also recommend that you shop around to get some comparative quotes to ensure that you are getting value for money. We are more than happy to provide details of other Solicitors that specialise in Scottish road traffic law to enable you to make an informed decision about your choice of representation. It is important to get it right and strongly believe that transparency and openness in the solicitor-client relationship is the key to ensuring client satisfaction.
It should be noted that, in Scots Law, fees are not recoverable, regardless of the outcome.
It may be possible to fund the case through your insurance company and you should check the terms of your policy or contact your insurer directly to discuss this option.
It may also be possible to secure funding through the Scottish Legal Aid Board. This would depend upon the nature and jurisdiction of the case although please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss this further.
