Speeding case against Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti binned

Our Michael Lyon was instructed by Rangers striker, Youssef Chermiti, in relation to proceedings at Glasgow Justice of the Peace Court on 23 October 2026.

The case had an unusual chronology and our experience in relation to certain technical issues was used to Mr Chermiti’s advantage and, in the words of the press, the case was ‘binned’.

The spokesperson for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service who indicated that the 'Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available' seems to have missed the legislative provisions barring the Crown from raising the matter again the future.
