Dangerous Driving Charge Reduced To 3 Penalty Points

Kept Licence
Dumfries Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court

This case was heard on 28 January 2019 within Dumfries Sheriff Court. Our client had originally been charged with dangerous driving by crashing his motor vehicle whilst having consumed a quantity of alcohol. Having reviewed the evidence in the case, a plea was negotiated with the Crown to the statutory alternative charge of careless driving with various deletions from the original charge.

The court recognised that there was a significant background to the crash and, having heard from all parties, elected to impose three penalty points in relation to the offence. This represents the very minimum penalty for the reduced charge to which our client pled guilty.
