This was a speed based dangerous driving prosecution where the Crown sought to allege that our client had been driving at twice the applicable speed limit on the M8 motorway at junction 27, near to Glasgow Airport. We were able to make certain representations to the Crown which resulted in a downgrading of the charge to one of careless driving. It was still viewed, quite properly, as being a very serious offence but the Sheriff was just persuaded (and no more it has to be said) to allow our client to retain his licence by imposing 9 penalty points. This meant that our client had to be very careful in the future but we are pretty sure he had learnt his lesson and was just thankful to still be driving.
