Driving Without Insurance Dumbarton JP Court

Dumbarton Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court

Our client deliberately drove his father's vehicle without insurance and without displaying 'L' plates. His mother was charged with causing and permitting him to do so.

Our client co-operated fully with the police and our role in this case was two-fold: Firstly, secure a plea whereby his mother was released from the charges against her; and, secondly, to minimise the impact that this incident would have upon his driving entitlement.

We entered into negotiations with the Procurator Fiscal's Office and persuaded the Depute to drop the charges against our client's mother.

The case called at Dumbarton Justice of the Peace Court on 18th February 2020 where our Mr Simpson appeared. The position was put to the Presiding Justice of the Peace and following consideration the Justice imposed the statutory minimum sentence of 6 penalty points and a total fine of £240.

We achieved both of the key outcomes that our client had identified at the outset of the case. Job done.
