Fort William Dangerous Driving

Kept Licence
Fort William Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court

Our client was accused of dangerous driving by driving at excessive speeds, accelerating aggressively, overtaking when unsafe to do so, causing other vehicles to take evasive action to avoid a collision and causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and end up on its roof. A very serious allegation.

We were instructed to plead Not Guilty and defend the case. Our client chose our Firm over a small one-man Firm based in Dumfries due to our reputation and success rate, and because we do not outsource our clients to other solicitors on the day of the trial.

We discovered several areas of difficulty with the Crown case and our Mr Simpson was able to persuade the Procurator Fiscal Depute to accept a plea of guilty to careless driving without any mention of speed, evasive action, overtaking etc.

The case called for sentence at Fort William Sheriff Court on 29th November 2022 and our client's licence was endorsed with 3 penalty points and he was fined £300. An outstanding result given the serious nature of the original charge.
