Our client was a new driver and thus subject to the 6 point limit. Having been charged with travelling at 88mph in a 50mph he was facing an outright disqualification rather than a penalty points endorsement. Our services were engaged and we realised after careful inspection of the scene of the 'crime' that the police were incorrect about the speed limit (which was actually 70mph). The Procurator Fiscal accepted that the limit was indeed 70mph and our client pled guilty to speeding at 88mph in a 70mph limit which attracted 3 penalty points and a modest fine. Our client was permitted to continue driving. Job done.
