Speeding M74 Dumfries

Reduced Sentence
Dumfries Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court

Having been accused of travelling at 97mph in a 70mph limit on the A74(M) our client - who already had 6 live penalty points - pled guilty of his own volition by letter to the charge. He thereafter received a letter inviting him to make representations against disqualification for speeding in Dumfries. At this point he enlisted the services of the road traffic lawyer in Dumfries. We addressed the Court in mitigation on his behalf and the Court was content to impose fewer than the 6 penalty points that would have led to a 6 month disqualification under the totting-up provisions. Our client had 4 penalty points endorsed on his licence and was also given a modest financial penalty which is a good result for someone admitting speeding in Dumfries.
