Dangerous Driving 6 Penalty Points

Kept Licence
Edinburgh Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court

Our client took a sweeping right-hand bend a little too quickly resulting in a complete loss of control and his car being written off.

He was charged with dangerous driving and reported to the Procurator Fiscal for summons.

We were instructed in the case and, upon examining the evidence, were content that the Crown would struggle to establish that the level of our client's driving was dangerous. We spoke to a Procurator Fiscal Depute who was persuaded that a plea of guilty to the statutory alternative of careless driving would be more appropriate.

The case called for sentence on 21st October 2021 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court with our Mr Simpson in attendance. The Court was persuaded to deal with the offence as a mid-range Section 3 and endorsed our client's licence with 6 penalty points and imposed a fine of £225.

An excellent result in the circumstances.
