Careless Driver Keeps Licence

Kept Licence
Dumfries Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court

Our client was charged with careless driving on A75 Stranraer - contrary to the Road Traffic Act 1988 section 3 (as amended) and failing to report an accident contrary to the Road Traffic Act 1988, section 170(2) and (4). Our advice was that our client - who was on 6 penalty points already - should be pleading guilty to the charge of careless driving. Following a successful plea in mitigation, the Court was persuaded to not to disqualify him and instead only 5 penalty points were added to his licence with a modest fine of £275.
