This case called for a special reasons proof on 12 June 2019 within Dumfries Justice of the Peace Court. The accused accepted driving without a valid policy of insurance at the material time however maintained that he had relied upon a close family member arranging the insurance. The evidence led in support of the proof was held to be credible and reliable and our client was simply admonished in respect of the charge. The court also refrained from imposing any penalty points on the licence which was a matter of great relief for our client as he would have faced revocation under the new driver regulations.
