Speeding Trial Deserted By Court Crown Motion Refused

Kept Licence
Glasgow Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court

Our client was accused of speeding at 80mph in a 50mph limit on the M8 near junction 24. As a chaffeur his licence could not accomodate any penalty points or Elvis would be walking himself to the Hydro... We were instructed and the matter called for trial in Glasgow Justice of the Peace Court. It transpired that only one police witness had turned up and the Crown made a motion to adjourn. This was vigorously opposed and the Court upheld our opposition and deserted the matter simpliciter. The legal effect being that he was acquitted of the charge and kept a nice, clean driving licence. Elvis has left the building (in a limo). For what it's worth, the Crown had no realistic prospect of ever securing a conviction as the case struck us as being ill conceived. Our client was a thoroughly nice chap who deserved the outcome that he received.

This case called before Glasgow JP Court on 29th November 2017 and was one of three cases successfully dealt with by our Mr Simpson on that day.

Sheriff Rejects Police Evidence In Speeding Charge

Our client was accused of speeding at 101mph on the M74. Following a speeding trial the Sheriff decided that the police officers did not give credible or reliable evidence and found our client not guilty of the charge. Despite stating that he was very experienced, one road traffic officer claimed that he could not tell the Court the difference between a saloon and an estate car. This was a great result. There was no risk to our client's licence and was defended solely on a point of principle....
