Careless Driving Charge Dropped

Kept Licence
Inverness Sheriff Court and Justice of the Peace Court

Our client was accued of careless driving by colliding with - and tragically killing - a labrador puppy. A horrible case and whilst we had enormous sympathy for the puppy and her human, we could not see the basis upon which charges were being proferred against our client.

The circumstances of the case were that whilst out for a walk, the puppy slipped her collar and darted across a main road upon which our client was travelling.

In such circumstances, there was nothing our client could have done to avoid a fatal collision.

Following several long discussions with the Procurator Fiscal's Office in Inverness, the Crown accepted that the prosecution had no merit and withdrew the case.
